We think camp is awesome, but don’t just take our word for it! Take a look at some of the things our campers, staff, and guests have said about their experiences here at YMCA Camp Piomingo. If you like to share your story, please email Molly at firstname.lastname@example.org as we love to hear from our families, guests, and staff!
At age 15, I experienced my first summer as a Camp Piomingo counselor. I was hired as the assistant to the Adventure Camp program counselor. This consisted of a week of staff training and eight weeks of summer camp. I made $100 for the entire summer. I fell in love with the job –– and not for the money. Although, it did allow me to buy my first steak dinner ever. Granted, it was at the Tijuana Motel and Restaurant in downtown Muldraugh, Kentucky and only cost about six or eight dollars, but I still had a good dinner and a bit of my weekly pay left over.
I loved it so much, I signed up for six more summers after that.
This was my oldest 3rd year at camp and my youngest 1st year at camp. They had such a great time and can't wait for next summer. My oldest counts down every year and now my youngest is too!
My son has spent a week at Piomingo for the past three years. Summer 2016 will, sadly, be his last year (unless he chooses to be a counselor some day, which I hope he does). When I picked him up from his first summer there, he ran over, gave me a big hug, and yelled, ``This has been the best week of my LIFE!`` He has had great adventures at camp and came home with great stories. Every staff member I've met has been nothing short of fantastic. Thank you, Piomingo people!
